Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, MIKA Consulting Group Ltd. is a multifaceted company that was established in 2017. Our team is comprised of professional accounting, bookkeeping, and office management consultants with more than 50 years of combined industry experience. MIKA Consulting Group Ltd. is led by two brilliant and committed leaders: Karin Samuel and Michelle Sarnowsky. Read on to learn more about their respective fields of expertise.
After a career in the tourism industry, Michelle followed her passion to pursue her career in accounting. Once she completed college, Michelle accepted an entry-level accounting position at a horticultural brokerage business destined for growth. Over the course of 6 years, Michelle grew with the company and gained valuable experience while assisting the accountant, now her current business partner. In 2013, Michelle took a position as the controller for two companies, a trucking company and a commercial transport repair shop. Michelle did the HR, policies and procedures, account management, and full cycle accounting including payroll for the shop employees and truckers. Within 6 months, Michelle accepted the position of General Manager where her responsibilities were extended to oversee office staff and managers. In her new role, she contracted mechanics, owner-operators, and lease operators and was also in-charge of all hiring and terminations. After 3 years, Michelle decided to open her own bookkeeping business, and most recently, amalgamate with Karin Samuel to open MIKA Consulting Group Ltd. Since 1988, Karin has been a dedicated and technically skilled professional with a versatile skill set that she has developed for business development through her experience in various jobs. Karin has worked as a Controller, HR Professional, Office Manager, Data Base Developer and Administrator, Senior Accounting Technician, Mentor, and Accountant over the years. She excels in resolving day-to-day operational challenges with innovative solutions, systems, and process improvements proven to increase efficiency, client satisfaction, employee retention, and plans for succession.
